The Swing for Kids' Sake golf tournament marks a milestone this year! Through our collective effores, we have provided more than $3 million to Big Brothers Big Sisters in Houston. Join us as we celebrate the 15th Anniversary of supporting youth mentoring in the Houston area.
Kate, Pete, George and I are committed to the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Be a part of this long-standing achievement! We welcome you to make a difference in the lives of Houston’s at-risk children by sponsoring or participating in this year’s tournament on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Kingwood Golf Club in Kingwood, Texas.
We thank you in advance for your consideration to support this commemorative tournament.
The Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring model of sustainable, one-to-one mentoring relationships is proven to help children reach their full potential. An independent study revealed, 18 months after being matched, our mentees were:
- 52 percent less likely to skip school
- 46 percent less likely to begin using illegal drugs
- 27 percent less likely to begin using alcohol
This research demonstrates a powerful message – MENTORING WORKS!
What’s more, you can also step into the golfing shoes of a Big for a day! On Sunday, November 3, 2013, we will host our Little Links Clinic with our partner First Tee of Houston at their facility at 8400 Mykawa Road in Houston, Texas from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. This event provides an opportunity for all sponsors and participants to spend an afternoon as a Big Brother or Big Sister. Participants will work one-on-one with Littles in our program, who are currently on the waiting list for a mentor. Consider joining the kids for a day of fun and see just how easy it is to be a Big!
We look forward to seeing you at the tournament this year!
Sincerely,
Jim, George, Kate & Pete, Event Chairs
